Tennessee Bible Museum has acquired an absolutely incredible piece of Biblical History – A 1538 William Tyndale/Myles Coverdale New Testament! This book was printed just 12 years after Tyndale published his original translation of the New Testament and utilizes his text. This volume was printed in Antwerp, Belgium to avoid the attention of both the Catholic Church and Henry VIII, both of whom at the time forbade the Bible to be translated into English. This made this volume the last of the “Martyrs Bibles”, meaning that at the time of this book’s publication, it was illegal to own one!!! We are deeply grateful to our good friend Marc Crocker in Oklahoma for making this available to the museum. Stop in and see it on the museum tour today!
